Competition of Books on Seerat, Naat and on Islamic Topics and Seerat Articles for the Year 1432 AH 2011AD

Federal Ministry of  Religious Affairs, Government of Pakistan , Islamabad hereby notify the following competitions of books on Seerat-un-Nab i(SAW), Na'at, Islamic Topics,  and Articles for the year 1432 A.H / 2011.

(A)    SEERAT BOOK COMPETITION     
Books on Seerat in National,International and Regiona Languages of Pakistan :
(i)    Three prizes worth Rs.60,000/- Rs.40,000/-and Rs.30,000/-for books in Urdu.
(ii)   One prize worth Rs.30,000/- in case of each Regional language of Pakistan.
(iii)   Books on Seerat written for children in National language only:Three prizes worth Rs.30,000/-, Rs.20,000/- and Rs.15,000/-
(iv)   One prize worth US$ 2000/- in case of books on Seerat in any Foreign Language.(The Pakistani authors however,will receive the amount of prize in Pakistani Currency equal to USA $)

(B)         NA'AT BOOK COMPETITION
(i)   Books containing Na'ats of one's own in National language. Three prizes worth Rs. 40,000/-,Rs. 30,000/- and Rs.25,000/-
(ii)    Books containing Na'ats of one's own in Regional languages of Pakistan.One prize worth Rs.25,000/-in case of each language.

(C)    BOOK COMPETITION FOR WOMEN ONLY
Books written by female scholars on Seerat un Nabi,Naat-e-Rasool (S.A.W.S) or on any General Islamic Topic in Urdu and English language (Three prizes worth Rs.60,000/-, Rs40,000/-and Rs. 30,000/- respectively.

(D)    COMPETITION OF JOURNALS / MAGAZINES ON SPECIAL SEERAT OR NA'AT NUMBER
Three prizes  worth Rs. 25,000/-, Rs. 20,000/- and Rs. 15,000/- respectively.

(E)    MAQALAT-E-SEERAT COMPETITION FOR MEN AND WOMEN.
Articles on the following topic both for men and women separately carrying two prizes i.e. First and Second each worth Rs.15,000/- and Rs.10000/-in case of each Province and Azad Kashmir/ Gilgat Biltastan / Fata / Federal Capital Territory (combined prizes)

TOPIC:
TALEEM-O-TARBIAT MEIN HUMA'HANGI-TALEEMAT-E-NABWI (S.A.W) KI ROSHNI MEIN

TERMS AND CONDITIONS:
1. (A)  The non-returnable books to be in conformity with the provisions of Press and Publication Ordinance should have been written and published during the last one year i.e. from 12th Rabi ul Awwal, 1430 AH to 11th Rabi ul Awwal, 1431 A.H (corresponding to 10th March 2009 to 26th February 2010).  The books published during  the last three  years  1st April  2007  to the 26th February 2010 are also eligible for competition provided that these have not at any stage been received previously for entry in any competition held under the Ministry of Religious Affairs.

The author of the book or article should be alive.
2.    The books should be comprehensive, based on research, having literary merit and supported by original sources.
3.    The book on Na'at should be in conformity with the Injunctions of Holy Quran and Sunnah.
4.    The book should be an original work and not an anthology,rendition, translation or an interpretation in any  form of a book published previously in any language or a copy of a published material.
5.    The books/journals and articles containing errors in Quranic Verses and Ahadith or having portraits/images of living things or material conveying sectarian bias or showing lack of concern for the spirit of Islamic teachings or in the form of manuscript shall not be entertained.
6.    Legible Seerat articles/papers,to be of one's own efforts, should comprise 10-15 foolscap pages (4 A Size )only. Articles / papers beyond this limit shall not be entertained.
7.    In all cases the amount of award / prize is liable to be increased or decreased according to the availability of funds, or in keeping with the standard of book /  articles.The award or otherwise shall be final and no appeal whatsoever shall be allowed.
8.    Both Male and Female writers are eligible to take part in the competitions.
9.    The employees of the Ministry of Religious Affairs ,its attached and subordinate offices are not allowed to take part in the competition.    
All those desirous to participate in the competition are requested to send (i)08 copies of their books / journals etc.and (ii) 04 copies of articles along with their complete bio-data with telephone Numbers to Abdul Ahad Haqqani, Deputy Director (R&S) latest by 25th July 2010.

HEC Scholarships for students of Balochistan and FATA

HEC is implementing the scholarship program titled “Provision of Higher Education Opportunities for Students of Baluchistan and FATA” specifically for the students belonging to the less privileged areas of Baluchistan & FATA and do not have educational opportunities at par with other areas of the country. HEC will provide 400 scholarships for undergraduate students and 120 scholarships for postgraduate students of Baluchistan & FATA for Batch IV Intake 2011.

The interested candidates are advised to go through the eligibility criteria of the scholarship program, required documents, FAQs and important information; before submitting the applications for the scholarship program (2011).

Scholarships for Pakistani Students, Ministry of Science, Research and Technology, Iran

The Admission Department for Non-Iranian Student of the Ministry of Science, Research and Technology has in a press release, notified the conditions for admission of non Iranian student. Conditions and Facilities of Government of the Islamic Republic of Iran concerning Grant of Academic Scholarships to Pakistani Students in Various Fields.

HOW TO APPLY FOR SCHOLARSHIP IN IRAN

Pakistani students intend to apply for scholarship to study in the Islamic Republic of Iran should submit the following documents to the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Islamabad or Consulate General offices of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Karachi, Lahore, Peshawar and Quetta.
1-Admission form (duly filled in, it can be downloaded from the Embassy‘s website: www.iranembassy.pk)
2- Translation or copy of attested documents & Mark Sheets (From Higher Education & Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan.)
3-Three Introduction Letters for Masters & PhD programs
4- Physical Fitness Certificate) to be free from addiction of Narcotics, AIDS. Hepatitis B & C and should not be physically handicapped)
5-Financial Soundness Certificate in case of Self finance & Semi Self finance
6-A copy of all pages of Candidates Identification Documents (Passport valid for intended study duration)
7- 4 latest photographs (4*6 sizes)
8- Students Visa Application form (can be downloaded from the Embassy‘s website)
9- Age limit 20, 25, 31 years respectively for Graduation, Masters and PhD level programs. For Masters in Theology & Islamic Studies age limit is 28 years.
10- Minimum of 70 % marks

The GE & Science Prize for Young Life Scientists

The GE & Science Prize for Young Life Scientists was established in 1995 to recognize outstanding Ph.D.'s from around the world and reward their research in the field of molecular biology. There are over 75 former prizewinners, many of them working in some of the world's most prestigious labs, among them the University of Tokyo, the University of Liege, Stanford, Harvard, the University of California, Walter Reed Army Institute and many others. 

The GE & Science Prize for Young Life Scientists exists to recognize and reward outstanding Ph.D. graduate students from around the world for their work in molecular biology.

 Rules of eligibility 

Entrants must have been awarded their Ph.D. between 1 January and 31 December of 2010. Candidates for M.D./Ph.D. degrees are eligible to compete for the prize in either the year the Ph.D. is awarded or the year the final degree is awarded.

The research described in the entrant's thesis must be in the field of molecular biology. For the purpose of this prize, molecular biology is defined as "that part of biology which attempts to interpret biological events in terms of the physico-chemical properties of molecules in a cell." (McGraw-Hill Dictionary of Scientific and Technical Terms, 4th EditionThe prize will recognize only work that was performed while the entrant was a graduate student.
 
The prize will be awarded without regard to gender, race, or nationality.
 
Employees of GE, Science and AAAS, and their relatives are not eligible for the prize.

The Entry Form must be submitted electronically in English. All other submission materials may be submitted in English, French, German, Spanish, Japanese, or Chinese (Mandarin). The entrant must submit the following five items:

An essay, written by the entrant,that describes his or her thesis work and places it in perspective with respect to current research in molecular biology. The essay must not exceed 1000 words in length.

The abstract of the thesis (not to exceed four double-spaced typed pages).

A Curriculum Vitae that includes the following: 1) All published and in press papers; 2) Academic and professional awards received; and 3) Relevant professional experience.
